Remodeling the Farmhouse

Our first remodel focus is this old farmhouse.  If you read my About Us post, then you will be bored by my repeating some of the story lol.
This was on move in day in August 2018

My mom decided to downsize from a country farmhouse with several outbuildings on a little over 3 acres to a place "in town".  Once I heard she was selling my childhood home, my anxiety set in...someone would be tearing apart the place (essentially tearing apart all of my memories 😭 Thankfully the Old Man was receptive to visiting my mom and getting a tour form my mom, Sandy.  I knew when we pulled in the drive he saw all of the property that my Dad had cleared, what was left uncleared and the existing buildings that his subcontractor wheels were already turning.
After a lot of  "discussing" terms and a timeframe...we signed on the dotted line in August of 2018.  And we moved in a few weeks later, but that is a whole other story lol.
Now that winter is here, the Old Man is not as busy working outside.  Sooooo I decided to give him a project....remodeling our whole second floor (one room at a time ofcourse).  Without warning, a few weeks ago,  I ripped up the carpet in our most unused room (aka. the guinea pig room) to check out the floors.  And we have been off and running with remodeling ever since.

If you would like to follow along, please follow this Blog, my Pinterest, on Facebook or checkout the pages section (below, I will try to update/add each post here for easy finding).

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and is keeping warm this crazy winter.

  4. Remodelling is sometimes really hectic for people. But, when you are really interested and enjoying the remodelling must be fun. Doing all the things all by yourself must be a proud thing. Keep it up

  5. As erratic as it is, I believe it will bring you closer together! I would love to be able to live in a house, escape the city and just embrace nature! I think if I moved in tomorrow, I would start planning a bbq area right away! Summer is just around the corner! :)

  12. There's so many things to do to an old house. I'm sure you're busy working on it. So cool to get a great piece of land along with your new house.

  13. I know how difficult it is to tear down and remodel something that reminds you of your childhood. I am also in such a predicament. Although, our house still stands now but I know in a few months they will be doing some changes. I have already asked my mom to save up some parts of the house that really reminded me of great things.
