Part 2 GP: Removing the Paneling

This morning let"s look at what horror I found.  EEK!!!  Yesterday I let you in on what I found under three layers of carpet

After the hustle and bustle of the holidays were over I decided to rip down that old dark paneling out and see what the walls were hiding.  Boy was I in for a surprise!!

Isn't that some great wallpaper? NOT!  And that was just the top layer.

Things were going great with just yanking down the paneling, as it wasn't really attached to anything...until I got to the closet.  As you can see I was really in for an eye opener....

There was a closet behind the closet...complete with a secret stash.

Of course I immediately called for the Old Man with a "I think I did something wrong and now I'm scared" text.  That brought him in from the garage in a hurry lol.

My answer to finding this was to put the piece of paneling back in front of the cubby and walk away for a few days lol.  I did reach out to my mother with a few questions and she let me know that she never knew it was there either...the paneling was already in place when we moved here.  I think the best response was the "you need to seal that up Tracy Lee...what if you opened up a portal to something?!"

I think the most disappointing thing of this whole paneling removal was to find the walls weren't really walls, but a spongy roofing material that was going to have to come out.  The water damage by the window from a leak last Spring wasn't really impressive either.

It was great to let you all see what fun we are having with this remodel...and it's only the beginning.
You are welcome to follow along with us.

If you missed Part 1...you can read it Here.   Our full story begins Here.  Tomorrow I will let you see how I ripped the walls down :)
