Part 5 GP: Priming and Painting the Office

Heyyyyyyyy there...I missed you guys...it's great to see you again!!

Hope everyone is inside and out of this subzero weather!  I know it's cold when I've resorted to drinking my "brrrrrrr" drink...mixing hot cocoa and French Vanilla cappuccino. (I hate hot stuff).  I'm not sure how I functioned before our Keurig showed up.

I think Aldi should pay me royalties for all the advertising they'll be getting from me over this blog lol.  I guess it's time to switch to shopping more at Walmart....never a dull moment there.

Just a quick recap...I say quick, but this project has definitely not been as quick as I thought it would be....  We've found hardwood floorsremoved paneling, tore out old walling and finally added additional electric and the drywall.  I am so excited to finally get to priming and painting these walls.

After an hour in the store of me staring at all the paint cans...I decided to go with Dutch Boy primer (Gallon) and Dutchboy latex paint in Eggshell (5 gallon). I'm not a huge fan of bright, blinding white...so Eggshell it is.  Let's just say the Old Man was not excited about this trip to the store lol...I tend to change my mind at the drop of a dime.

Now I finally get to break out the new toy he bought to help me get this done faster....a paint spray gun

I faithfully watched YouTube for a few hours in preparation to using this...I was pretty excited.  it had the room primed in no time.  And it dried rather quickly in between two coats of primer.  Now I was really getting excited about my new office...so while the primer completely dried I DIY'd all the outlet and switch covers to match the new light fixture that will be in this room in Oil Rubbed Bronze.  You can check it out here

These are going to look great in here with the eggshell paint

We did find that the latex paint needed to be thinned out to work in the spray gun properly.  At this point I abandoned the gun to the Old Man and worked ahead with a good old fashioned paint roller.  Two coats of paint was all the patience I had for this room.  My brain works ahead way too far...

Soooooooo, this is what the room looks like with the walls painted

We can finally get onto fixing the mess on these floors.....so join me on the next episode of Little Slice of Joy for cleaning up the hardwood.
