Part 4 GP: Installing Electric & Drywall

Welcome back everyone...I have some serious catching up to do about this room lol.  So grab some hot cocoa and curl up with a warm blanket for this long one.

So far we've covered hardwood floorsremoved paneling, and ripped out 100 year old walling.

So tonight I will show you the addition of two more electric outlets to the room before the Old Man puts up the drywall. A definite clue to this house being so old is the fact that the only electric outlets in the upstairs was installed when someone decided to put up a few walls to divide the second floor into rooms. Which pretty much means there are only two outlets in each room...both on the same wall. OY VAY!!

So thankfully someone here knows how to add more where we need them (obviously not me lol). This was a huge conquering of a fear for him. You see, he was accidentally electrocuted while helping his uncle when he was nine and spent some time in the hospital. I guess he was local paper famous and all. So needless to say, he hasn't been inclined to do any electric dangerous since.

I guess love will conquer all fears ;)

Now that there's more outlets in here it's time to put some drywall up.  Surprisingly, the Old Man let me put in the inaugural drywall screws...but then I had to concede to his muscle over mine, as some of the beams had become petrified.

The Old Man working on our jigsaw puzzle walls

Determined to finish before the weekend and so I could jump back in to helping with the room while he was at work, he finished it up in one night..  After a quick "manly" instruction he let me loose with mudding seams and anything I thought was an imperfection....that wasn't a good idea, lol.  After we let it dry overnight, we set to work sanding the walls.  This is when two OCD people should not work together on one project lol.

The "evil portal" cubby was closed back up...after we put everything back in it...
some things just aren't meant to be opened.

These pics were after we finished sanding
(don't pay attention to the floors, it's a sore subject here...ahem)

Our Bull Mastiff, Maximus, came up to check things out and decided to take advantage of the open window and christen the new snow on the porch roof.  Crazy dog!

I am so super excited to get to move on to Painting and Priming these walls... let's get this party started!!

Thanks everyone for bearing with me, as this one was a long one....
