Venison Philly Cheesesteak

I made these for dinner last night...and I must say they turned out ah-mazing!!

You can do this with beef, but I chose to do it with our thin cut Venison steaks.

Ingredients for Venison Cheesesteak:
2 lbs thin cut Venison steak
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 stick of butter
garlic pepper to season
Worcestershire sauce
sub buns
shredded mozzarella

Directions:

  1. Slice the Venison steaks into strips
  2. Chop the pepper and onion and place in the bottom of crockpot
  3. Place the Venison strips on top of the chopped pepper and onion
  4. Cut the butter stick into chunks and sprinkle over the garlic pepper and Worcestershire sauce
  5. Mix well
  6. Cook on low for 6 hours, stirring occasionally.  I promise, they'll be nice and tender
Spoon cooked cheesesteak mix into Italian sub buns and top with shredded Mozzarella.  And Viola...easy Venison Philly Cheesesteaks.
Melting the cheese is an individual preference.  I like to toss my plated sandwich in the microwave for 60 seconds to melt the cheese and warm my bun (it stays soft).  However, my son likes his toasted in the oven...in that case, I preheat to 250 F and place his sandwich on a baking sheet in the oven for about 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and slightly browned.

You can add any toppings you like and whatever sauce you have a taste for...any way it's topped it's still YUMMMMMMMMMMMM.

I hope you liked my quick and easy recipe... check out my blog for upcoming recipes.  Feel free to follow along on Pinterest or Facebook and get updates when new ones are added.
